Ten students from Wakefield ■ Country Day at Huntly returned with 23 awards from the Virginia Junior Classical League Convention, held in Norfolk last weekend.
Sixteen of the awards won by the Wakefield Country Day contingent were in the academic contests. Eighth-grader Welby Lynn of Washington, Va. earned the highest award in the Roman history test at the Latin II level, while Kathleen O’Neill of Front Royal won first in the Greek II test. For getting the highest score on the Greek test, Kathleen won a best-of-show medal.
Detra Funk of Front Royal won second place in Greek II. Sandeep Ranade of Culpeper won sixth in the Greek I competition. Kathleen O’Neill and Detra Funk won second and fourth in Latin derivatives, Latin IV.
