The professional theatre company that brought the rousing “Pirates of Penzance” and the humorous “Joyce” to The Theatre at Washington, Va. now proves its remarkable versatility with a colorful, spirited production of “A Dickens of a Christmas,” to be presented at The Theatre at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 for one performance only.
“A Dickens of a Christmas” is a nostalgic re-creation of a Victorian Christmas and many of Charles Dickens’ colorful characters will be there, including Mr. Pickwick, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig — and Scrooge, chastened and in celebratory mood. Audience members will join the Dickensian characters in singing some favorite Victorian carols.
