The Friends of the Library is an independent, private, nonprofit organization with a self-perpetuating board of residents established to raise funds for the Library. Traditionally the Friends have provided supplemental income, but for the past two years the Friends’ monies have been used entirely for the building fund. These are now almost depleted except for a few special memorial funds. Administered by the Friends, they will hopefully be restored and increased.
In addition, the Library has built from gifts a very modest “endowment” fund securely and conservatively invested. The income is included as part of the annual budget but will be less this year because of lower interest rates. Turned over to
