He said both of their families have been very supportive of their efforts to start their own business. He also credits his co-workers at Four and Twenty Blackbirds in Flint Hill, where he works as a sous chef. “Heidi Morf is my plant mentor,” he said. He has also found other people in the nursery busifWSS very helpful!4 He said they have learned a lot from visiting uthor nurseries.
Mr. Lockridge said he did have some experience with plants and gardens before getting started.
For the Easter season they had signs with bunnies among the plants. “Well do a couple of things like that as the year goes along,” he said. He said he has learned that having lots of color is most important for getting customers to stop and look.
Once they stop, he wants to encourage them to try something new and different. He believes that growing plants should be fun. His customers are a “nice mix” of local people and tourists, he said. If they want a plant he doesn’t have, he will try to find it.
As the season progresses he also wants to add local crafts, and he is hoping to add his own hand-loomed rugs. He said that if they can market it, they will add locally-grown produce.
