The annual Rappahannock Liont auction is an all-county affair always well attended by the community and drawing scores of eager bidders from neighboring counties as well.
Making it a successful event requires the active participation of every member of the Rappahannock Lions Club. In order to cooperate efficiently with all the potential donors the auction committee has assigned area responsibilities to Lions who live in all of the community neighborhoods.
Information and arrangements for pick-up can be made directly to these local Lions.
In the Hampton cantact Hal McDermott (675-1028); Robert Naylor, (987-9322) the Town of Washington; in the Jackson, David Smith (9374170); Guy' Foster (987-8939) the Piedmont District; the Stonewall Hawthorne District, Robert Anderson (987-8206) and Paul Nichols (6753500) for the Wakefield District.
Cashiers for the Auction will be Roberta Anderson (987-8206), Carol Foster (987-8939) and Ann Markham (987-3122). Roger Welch (675-3686) will be in charge of the Food Bar at the Washington VFD Hall.
Since the Auction starts at 6 p.m., you may want to have your hot dogs, cold drinks, or coffee while you are enjoying Bill Payne, the Auctioneer, as he whets your appetite for all the interesting items being sold. Mark that date on your kitchen calendar, Saturday, May 8.
