Raymond Sutphin
Raymond M. Sutphin, 78, of Flint Hill died April 6 in the Warren Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Sutphin was born Dec. 14, 1914 in Flint Hill, son of the late William Lewis and Bertha Martin Sutphin. He was married to the late Elizabeth Stuphin.
He was a retired farmer.
Survivors are three sons M. Wayne Sutphin, Sr. and Charles E. Sutphin, Sr. both of Flint Hill and Jody M. Sutphin of Florida; two daughters Loretta S. Lee of Washington and Marilyn Sutphin of Texas; a half-sister Rebecca Donaldson of Rockville, Md.; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchilren.
Funeral services were held April 9 at the Maddox Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Young officaiting. Interment was in the Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons Charles E. Sutphin Jr., Maun- A. Sutphin, Patrick M. Lee, S. Bryant Lee, Thomas E. Lee Jr., M. Wayne Sutphin Jr., and Keith Sutphin.
Honorary pallbearers were Manuel J. Pullen, Thomas R. Taylor, Emory Russell, Major Cowgill, Christopher Salmon, Paul Nichols, and Milton Corbin.
Nellie Sloat
Nellie Gray Sloat, 97, of Front Royal died April 6 at the Heritage Hall Health Care Center in Front Royal.
Graveside services were conducted April 9 at the Linden Church Hill Cemetery by the Rev. James Burke.
Miss Sloat was bom April 7, 1895 in Front Royal, daughter of the late William and Hennie R. Sloat. She was a retired nurses aide.
Surviving are Thomas 0. McGovern of Front Royal and Jane Williams of Chester Gap, with whom she had made her home.

Lewis Nelson
Lewis C. Nelson, 73, of Washington D.C. died Tuesday, April 13 at Carriage Hill Nursing Home jn Washington D.C.
Mr. Nelson was born March 13, 1920 son of the late Joseph and Alice Nelson of Amissville.
He is survived by a number of cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 16 & Amissville Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Everett officating. -
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
