I will explain first the “general purpose excape”. This is my common approach to avoid being “found out”. As anyone knows who has participated at a large Lunch Bunch gathering, there are three or four simultaneous conversation going on, none of which have any particular merit. These voices are not too hard to hear but almost impossible to sort out. 1 slump slightly in the chair, assume a slight scowl with pursed lips and stare unblinking, vert intently, straight ahead. This creates a very serious mood of intense meditation and mature intelligence. No person would dare interrupt such an important moment.
