Orville Faulkner Jr.
Orville Chapman Faulkner Jr., 71, of Castleton, died April 6 at the Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton.
A native of Lignum, Culpeper County, he was the son of the late Orville Chapman and Betty Mae Taylor Faulkner.
He was a veteran of World War II and a retired employee of the Arlington County School Board. He was a member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church near Washington.
He is survived by his wife Mary Louise Grigsby Faulkner; four sons Richard Faulkner and William Faulkner, both of Castleton, Ronnie Faulkner of Culpeper, Floyd Faulkner of Warrenton; two stepsons, Clarence Grigsby of Washington and Thomas Grigsby of Castleton.
Also surviving are a brother, Marvin Faulkner of Culpeper; six sisters, Ann Hensley of Culpeper, Sadie Apperson of Fredericksburg, Hattie Willenborg of Ramseur, N.C., Ruth Gauss of Reston, Hazel Crist of Arlington and Barbara Faulkner of Colorado Springs; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one great-granchild; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 10 at Geest-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Bare officiating assisted by Elder Kirby Shenk.
Interment was in St. Paul’s Cemetery at Woodville.
Active pallbearers were Jack Compton, Charles Dodson, Floyd Grigsby, Alvin Grigsby, Harvey Tharp and William Tharp.
Honorary pallbearers were W.G. Eastham Sr., W.R. Settle, E.G. Hackley and K. P. Grigsby.
Thomas Van Poole
Thomas B. Van Poole, 71, a patent lawyer who retired in 1989 as senior partner in the Washington law firm of Mason, Fenwick and Lawrence died March 25 at his home in Arlington.
Mr. Van Poole was bom in Salisbury, N.C. He graduated from Catawba College, then during the early 1940s worked at the Patent Office in Richmond. After World War II Navy service, he graduated from the University of Virginia law school.
He joined Mason, Fenwick and Lawrence in 1948. In retirment he had been of counsel to the firm.
Mr. Van Poole was a former Boy Scout leader and volunteer, a trustee of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Arlington and president of the University of Virginia Club of Washington. He was a member of the Arlington Rotary Club.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, the former Mary Gilmer Cooke of Arlington; three children, Thomas B. Van Poole III of Annandale, Virginia C. Atwell of Silver Spring and Elizabeth A. Van Poole of Falls Church; a brother, Edwin L. Van Poole of Kannapolis, N.C.; a sister Eleanor Vincent of Denver; and two grandchildren. . Mr. and Mrs. Van Poole have a vacation home in Washington.
Luther Jenkins
Mr. Luther Spilman Jenkins, 64, of Sperryville died on Sunday, April 11 at his residence.
He was bom October 20, 1928 in Culpeper the son of the late Luther S. Jenkins and Mrs. Della Fincham.
He was a deacon and a lifetime member at Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church.
Mr. Jenkins was retired from the Warrenton Training Center after 36 years of service. He was also an avid farmer. He was currently working as a U.S. Postal carrier.
Mr. Jenkins is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mrs. Florine Elizabeth Jenkins and his daughter, Mrs. Linda J. Dodson both of Sperryville. He is also surivived by a brother, John Walker Jenkins of Sperryville and a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Jenkins of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include two grandchildren, Jan Lynn JenkinsDodson and Daniel Jenkins-Dodson, both of Sperryville.
Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Margaret Goodman.
