Library to celebrate Earth Day
In celebration of Earth Day and National Library Week the Rap-; pahannock Public Library will play host to an evening program onMonday, April 19. This program will be designed specifically to raise! the awareness of young people to the environmental problems confronting our planet.
Featured activites will include songs, storytelling, nature sharing, and creative games, and each child will come away from the program with an Earth Day souvenir. Designed for grades K-6, all ages are welcome to attend the 7 p.m. program. All children must bring a; piece of nature with them! !
Woman's Club to meet
The Rappahannock Woman’s Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27 at the home of Mrs. Dawn Bare in Washington. All members are urged to attend.
RAA activities
Rappahannock Athletics Association (RAA) girls softball registration is continued until May 1.
Field workday will begin at 9 a m. on April 17. A coaches clinic will be held April 25.
The Mother’s Auxiliary will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 15 at the home of Lydia Pentecost. For more information call 937-5975.
Community trash pick-up
This Saturday, April 17, there will be a community-wide effort to “spring clean” here in the county. From 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. there will be local citizens helping at the recycling bin at the Washington Fire house to sort recyclables, assign roads to pick trash up on, recordroads where other have picked up on their ow n or through an adopt-aroad program, or direct people to the appropriate location with their “disposable” or recyclable goods. Call Hunt Harris at 636-3066 if you are interested in participating or helping in any way.
Bloodmobile coming
The Rappahannock County Extension Homemakers Clubs will sponsor a Red Cross Bloodmobile from 3:30-7:30 p.m. on May 5 at the Washington Fire Hall.
4-H Dog Obedience class
The 4-H Dog Obedience class will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on April 19 at the Rappahannock Recreational Center and continues for 10 weeks (skip Memorial Day). This class will be taught by Don Neilson and we have 12 children enrolled. If you have not signed up call 675-3619 by April 16 to register.
Fun day in Flint Hill
A flea market, craft show, jamboree and road apple tournament sponsored by the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department will be held beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 15 at the fire hall. To donate items or to have items picked up please call 675-3143 or 675-3389.
