The cold wet weather finally let up enough for the high school spring sports schedule to get underway, and both players and coaches were happy to get started.
The girls’ softball team won its first two games. They started out with a 13 to, 5 victory over Clarke County at home Tuesday.
Susan Payne pitched five innings and her sister Amy came in in relief for the final two innings. Coach Renee Leake said she also expects to use Cindi Welch as a pitcher some this year.
“I was real happy to finally get outside and get a game in,” she said, adding that she was also pleased that all team members were able to get into the game.
