In the United States each party must pay its own legal fees in most cases. “It’s wrong that people can file a lawsuit that is unreasonable and it can cost $15,000 to $20,000 to defend yourself, and in most cases you are not reimbursed for attorney fees.” He said he w'ould allow each party to pay its own fees in “close cases,” but in “unreasonable cases” the loser wrould pay the winner’s legal fees. He said he would favor allowing the judge or jury to determine if the case was “unreasonable.”
