Kirby Thornton of Castleton said the supervisors don’t have any right to put road signs on private land.

The supervisors responded that no decision has been made on signs, but that the signs could be put on the public right-of-way. Only in the case where one private lane comes off another private lane would that be an issue. In that case, the supervisors, agreed the sign could noj be put up without the landowner agreeing.
