Goldsmith was charged with possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance. He pled guilty in General District Court in Loudoun County May 4. Judge J. Allen Walker ordered him to pay court costs of $196 and gave him a sevenmonth, suspended jail sentence, according to James Forsyth, deputy commonwealth’s attorney in Loudoun County.
Christopher J. Waller, a British citizen who lives in Canada, was arrested at Dulles April 28 and found to possess 109 pounds of khat, according to court records.
“The drug was in the same kind of suitcase,” said Gaither, who now works full-time investigating khat cases.
Waller pled guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute in the Loudoun County court May 6. The judge required him to pay $1% in court costs, and gave him a 12-month jail sentence, which was suspended except for 30 days.
Gaither said Waller has been deported to Canada.
Law enforcement agents did not release the name of the third person found to possess khat. The case, which involved three pounds of the druc. is nendiner.
