Some 92 percent support a waiting period for gun purchases, 97 percent think government should not attempt to put any regulation on sexual activities, 87 percent are pro choice, 60 percent think government should reduce income inequities among citizens and only 13 percent think homosexuals should not be allowed to teach school children.
Reporters seem to take a more conservative position on economic policy. Some 57 percent think less government regulation of business would be beneficial, and 63 percent support the private enterprise system.
Taken as a whole, though, Virginia journalists would appear to have personal views more in line with those of Democratic candidates for office than with the Republican candidates. Rozell thinks the great majority take their professional responsibilities seriously enough so
