You can’t hear them in Rappahannock County, but if you’re willing to drive to Warrenton, Culpeper or Luray this weekend you can have your pick of three different shows in the Bluemont Concert Series.
In Warrenton, the Capital Klezmers bring the tradition of eastern European folk music to the Warren Green Concerts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 17. The Capital Klezmers bring to life the full vitality of the klezmer music tradition of the Jews of eastern Europe, from age-old ballads sung by itinerant troubadours to exuberant songs of modern theater.
The international septet hails from around the world, including Azarbaijan, Isreal, Poland and the United States. All seven are classically trained, and together they skillfully blend the old with the new, adding layers of many different musical styles to the base of klezmer melodies.
The Street Singers in Culpeper feature a Motown Trio and a oneman band on the lawn of the old , County Courthouse at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 18.
