Four Rappahannock residents were among the twelve students at Wakefield Country Day School who won prizes in the Samuels Library Holiday Writing Contest.
Third grader Alexander Purnell won first prize for his grade level. Jacob Konick won first place for seventh grade. Andres Inglis took first place for eighth grade, and Welby Lynn received third place for the eleventh grade.
The contest, sponsored jointly by the Samuels Library in Front Royal and the Royal Oak Bookshop, was open to all first through twelfth grade students. Entries must have a holiday theme and may be in the form of a poem or short story.
Winners were to read their compositions at the library Tuesday, Dec. 14. They received their awards then. First place winners for each grade level received $10 gift certificates from the Royal Oak Bookshop. Second and third place winners received certificates,
