He also reported that the school system is having problems getting the two new’ buses that were ordered for this year. He said they had finally been shipped to the chasis plant after he contacted the company last week. The buses w ere expected this fall.
Mr. Chappell also reported that the elementary school is using about half the water allowed for their sewage discharge permit. He said officials at the State Water Control Board had indicated the addition could be hooked up to the existing system if the board agrees to move toward compliance with new requirements for removing amonia from the discharge. He said that tests show the school grounds don’t have enough suitable soil for a septic system With a drainfield, so the administration is looking into a package sewage treatment system.
Although the meeting offered an opportunity for the public to make suggestions for next year’s school budget, no one had any suggestions.
