To the Editor:
The only shortcoming of the Library’s recent Friday program, “Christmas the World Over,” was that people were not present to enjoy the event.
The enthusiasm and warmth with which the students described the customs of their native lands was i both informative and moving.
Their leader and regional coordinator of Youth for Understanding, Richard Helmer, together with Bob Scott and Dorothy Mank of the Library Committee had assisted in developing a meaningful program, by providing musical, pictorial, and gustatorial accompaniment.
The students spoke effectively, performed the Santa Lucia ceremony ethereally and provided a most enjoyable evening to those fortunate enough to have been in attendance. For this we thank them all.
Audio and video tapes will be available at the Library.

To the Editor:
On the night of Oct. 31, the second floor of my home on Black Rock Farm in Flint hill caught fire. I want to express my sincere gratitude to. the Flint Hill and Washington Volunteer Fire Departments who responded to my call. Thanks to them, and Divine intervention, my house did not burn to the ground and no one was harmed.
Despite the fact that the firepeople had to traverse probably the worst farm road in the county and despite the fact that they cracked a water tank in the process (losing half their water supply), they were able to put the fire out.
