The Rappahannock County Citizen of the Year for 1993 is Marie Davis, office manager at the Department of Social Services and volunteer extraordinaire.
Mrs. Davis was born in Rappahannock County. She is the mother of three grown girls and has two grandsons. Her husband David Davis is a driver for United Van Lines.
During the 1989-90 school year she also welcomed to her home a son from Spain for a year, supporting him in his school activities and attending all his games as she had for her daughters Marie, Kathryn and Chandra when they were in high school.
She has done volunteer service for the Rappahannock Association for the Aits and the Community, the Warrenton chapter of the American Red Cross, the Extension Sendee, the American Heart Association, the Washington Fire Department, and the Rappahannock Women’s Club.
She is also an active member of two churches. First Baptist in Washington and Mt Moriah Baptist in Amissville, singing in the choir for both.
Frank Reynolds, a founding member of RAAC, has worked with Ms. Davis as a board member for many years. "Whenever Marie was assigned a job, it was done, no question about it. She is always there and always supportive." he said. "She held the position of treasurer, and has worked on many RAAC projects, including New Year’s Eve parties."
