If you’re past age 62 and thinking about retiring any time in 1994, contact Social Security now to discuss vour plans. Because our rules permit you to work and receive retirement benefits at the same time, it could be to your advantage to have your benefits begin in Janurary even if you aren’t actually retiring until later in the year.

For an application to be effective in January 1994, you should file any time before Jan. 31, 1994. For additional information, call Social Security’s toll-free number, 1-800-7721213, business days between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., to make an appointment to discuss your retirement plans.

If you plan to stop working and to begin receiving Social Security retirement benefits immediately at age 62, you should contact Social Security to file your application two months before your birthday.
