sale in Old Hollow. They purchased it, and are proprietors of the Apple Hill Bed and Breakfast. The B & B opened in January 1992 after many renovations. Mrs. Waller spends about half of her time working at the B & B and the other half at the Ben Venue Market. She also works part time as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit at Fair Oaks Hospital.
“June Compton is the heart and soul of Ben Venue Market,” said Mr. Waller. Ms. Compton is a familiar and friendly face to many county residents, as she has worked at the store for eight years. “I’ve been here through three owners, and we really have a good time here,” she said.
Homemade food available at store as specials include barbetpie beans, chili, and barbequed pork. These can change often, though, and at other times you might find Ben Venue stew or tortilla pie. All types of sandwiches are available, as are meats and cheeses by the pound.
