Winners of the Mayhugh’s Grocery drawing on Christmas Eve were: 19 inch color TV, Mark Green; country ham, George Glascoe; and case of soft drinks, Jeff Lunglhofer.
Mrs. Irma Lawson was thrilled to have daughter Ney Lawson of Atlanta, son Howard Jr., his wife Cynthia, and their daughter, Chelsea of Philadelphia in for the holidays.
Mr. and Mrs. Graham Hackley were also excited that son Larry of Kentucky could join them for the holidays. Of course daughter Janet, her husband Ron Makela, and their son Joshua live here and were able to join the rest of the family for the big celebration.
I enjoyed having my children for Christmas Eve (they did the cooking) and visited by Dad in Centreville Christmas Day.
Very special birthday wishes to Mrs. Josephine Banks Lawson who celebrated her 99th birthday on Dec. 28. She attributes her long life to a lot of hard work. She recalls working on the Ernest Browning farm in Rixeyville as a young girl. She married Mr. William Lawson and they had five girls and two boys. She’s lived in Rixeyville all her life.
The Amissville Health and Fitness Club has resumed its meetings. They meet at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Amissville United Methodist Church. Everyone is invited.
