“Marie is a wonderful person to know. If someone comes in with a problem, if she can’t help, she will refer that person to someone who can help. You never see her grouchy. She always gives someone the benefit of the doubt,” said Ms. Reeve.
Ms. Davis also serves on the board of the local American Heart Association. Board president Ann Miller said, “Marie is a very caring person and has done an excellent job serving as treasurer of the Heart Association. She is very dependable. Any time we have a function she will be there even if you don’t ask for her help.”
Beverly Bow'en, director of the Social Services Department, said, “Marie is kind, compassionate and energetic. She always puts other peoples’ needs ahead of her own. Rappahannock County is definitely a better place as a result of her being here.”
Ms. Davis also serves as president of the Rappahannock Womans’ Club. Vicepresident Barbara Wayland says, “Marie goes out of her way to do many things for the club. She works with the fashion show and is very responsive to the club’s needs. She helps in every way possible.”
Wife, mother, grandmother, cheerful worker in a very demanding job and staunch supporter of so many vital Rappahannock organizations, Marie Davis contributes much to the life of the community. The staff of the Rappahannock News is honored to recognize her as the 1993 Citizen of the Year.
