Virginia farmers are gearing up for their annual budget battle in the 1004 General Assembly, according to the Virginia Farm Bureau.
Agricultural research. Virginia Cooperative Extension programs and the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service all face the loss of more funding under Gov. L. Douglas Wilder's final twoyear budget plan, released Dec. 20.
The plan called for a .j-percent cut in Extension spending for each year of the biennium, reducing its budget to -Sol million in fiscal year 1004-05 ;ind $40.7 million for 100500.
