Any resident of the town of Washington who would like to run must contact the State Board of Elections at 800-552-9745. The board will send information and required forms to interested parties.

Petitions and filing forms must be filled out and returned to the Board of Elections by March 1 for names to appear on the ballot.

The Town Council meets at the Town Hall on the second Wednesday of each month. Members receive a stipend of $5 for each meeting they attend, and the treasurer has been paid $7.50 an hour.

Mr. Fisher said he had found the treasurer’s job has been taking 20 to 25 hours weekly. It includes all of the billing and paperwork for the water department.
