Although Trapezoid has been described as a folk group, Mr. Reisler said the group performs music that lies somewhere between jazz, classical, folk and world music. “We have a long history that has mixed together and become our own style,” he said. “We owe a great debt to many kinds of music.”

The group began in 1975 in Elkins, West Virginia as a quartet of hammered dulcimers. What began as a hobby and something fun to do while traveling around the country canoeing and fishing took on a new level of importance when the group was offered a recording contract after its very first performance.
In the mid 1980s Trapezoid found a home in Rappahannock County.
Trapezoid’s seventh and latest album “Remembered Ways” was recently released under the Mr. Reisler’s own Azure Records label.
