A Norfolk lawmaker has introduced new legislation which would permit riverboat gambling in Virginia, something that has made for strange bedfellows lobbying against that effort.
Officials of the Virginia Assembly of Independent Baptists have sided with proponents of horse racing to oppose the competition for the entertainment dollar. 1 The proposed bill, sponsored by ! Del. Jerrauld Jones, D-89, would allow seven riverboat locations on havigable waters throughout the eastern half of the state.
