The large franchise businesses that will inevitably follow Disney to this area will put our own local businesses out of business (who’s going to compete with Walmart?). If that isn’t bad enough, we as taxpayers are supposed to pay for all the infrastructure improvements, among other things, to get Disney started.

Worse yet, any profits’are going back to California, not here. How is all this going to help our economy? Disney’s America isn’t going to benefit the state anymore than putting a 7-11 in Flint Hill is going to make Rappahannock more prosperous.

We need to boost our own struggling businesses, not invite outsiders in to bleed our economy and send the profits our of state! I wonder if some of the same people who opposed The Inn’s proposed expansion
