For 18 years Rappahannock County’s Paul Reisler and his popular group Trapezoid have been writing and performing songs about rural America.
Love of the land coupled with the fear that development is slowly eroding the American rural lifestyle takes the group to Fauquier High School this Saturday for a concert to benefit the Piedmont Environmental Council.
PEC initiated the “Disney: Take a Second Look” campaign in an effort to convince the Disney Co. to build its proposed Disney’s America project in another location than the 3,000-acre site selected in Prince William County.
Mr. Reisler offered the services of the group to the PEC after he concluded that a number of state politicians had thrown support to the project without considering the farreaching effects.
“A decision must be made that is not based on short-term profits,” he said. “The future of an entire area is at stake. We have a rare and untouched region and unless something is done, it will be paved over and lost for good.”
“There is no question that the PEC is on the right side of this issue and has done an excellent job of bringing people together in this struggle,” Mr. Reisler added. , The Feb. 5th performance marks Trapezoid’s first major concert in Fauquier County although the group has toured nationally and internationally, Mr. Reisler said.
