Harry Saufley, manager of the Blue Ridge Area for Potomac Edison said they had about 1,500 customers out in Rappahannock County alone, out of 3,529 Potomac Edison customers in the county. In all Potomac Edison had about 3,200 customers out in the Blue Ridge Area, which includes Culpeper, Madison, Fauquier, Green and Albemarle counties.
He said that Rappahannock County seemed to be the hardest hit, especially in the Sperryville area. “It was a tough ice storm to deal with,” he said. “There were so many trees and limbs down and so many broken poles.”
Power was restored to the last places in Rappahannock County Monday evening, he said. With that done, the company was returning to areas where power had been restored earlier and replacing “things we put up as temporary solutions.”
He said Potomac Edison had also called in outside help to restore power from Potomac Edison offices in Martinsville, W.Va. and Winchester. “My folks worked hard and long and and we got through it safely,” he said. i
