Teens age 14 as of Jan. 1, 1994, who are in the 9th grade or higher are invited to take part in the training and apply for a position at the various camps. Selection is based on applications and interviews.
Former teen leaders have found summer jobs, part time jobs and strong college and scholarship recommendations as a result of their volunteer teen leader performances. For the high school student considering a career as a teacher, counselor or similar job, a week as a teen leader can confirm that desire or send them looking elsewhere.
