The RCHS junior varsity basketball team’s record stands at 6-4, and the varsity record is 4-6. Both teams got three games under their belts during this past week.
The junior varsity is tied for third place in the district. They battled against Central on Jan. 25, but lost 55-43. Lee Freeman scored 12 points for his team, Jon Butler 11, and Jason Carter had 9.
Coach Gary Leake said, MJon Butler had been averaging 14 points a game, but he has an ankle sprain, and that has hurt the team. ”
Jason Carter’s ankle injury is better, but he has stitches in his hand which happened while he was cutting wood. He is the team’s leading rebounder with 12 a game. “Without being 100 percent healthy, he has averaged eight points and 12 rebounds a game,” said Mr. Leake.
Last Saturday, the junior varsity beat Page 51-47. Jon Butler was the leading scorer with 16 points, and Jeff Atkins had 12. Jason Carter contributed eight points. Jon Butler made ten out of 11 shots from the free throw line.
