They know the officials because they have been athletic directors for years, and their seniority gives them advantages in the district, Mr. Leake said. “We virtually have no voice in the district because of the inconsistency.”

They praised the individuals who have served as athletic directors but are concerned with the turnover. “I’ve been here eight years under seven different athletic directors,” Mr. Leake said.

“I’ve been here seven years under six,” Mrs. Leake added.

Mr. Leake believes the athletic director’s position deserves more time than it is getting.
