Duplicitous To the Editor: “Disney’s America” development vice-president Tom Lewis either didn’t know much about his own company, or he is trying deliberately • to mislead the public. With respect to Disney’s planned “traffic cap,” your July 27 issue quotes Lewis as saying: “I’ve never seen a developer provide such a cap and to our knowledge it’s unprecedented.”
Enclosed with this letter is a “traffic cap” agreed to by the Walt Disney Company in Florida. The Florida cap is both meaningful and enforceable. Disney’s Virginia traffic cap means nothing and is worthless. By the way, Fairfax County has already set at least three precedents for substantive traffic caps in Virginia. Lewis’ statement is yet one more example of Disney’s duplicity in dealing with the public and Prince William County officials. ROBERT T. DENNIS, President Piedmont Environmental Council Letters
