Mrs. Harris says the Moon and Stars is absolutely the best and sweetest watermelon she has ever had. , BEN VENUE PRODUCE: This stand is located in front of the Ben Venue Store at the intersection of Rts. 729 and 211, and is operated by the Eastham family. They are open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Vegetables Available: Silver Queen com all week, other vegetables (red, yellow and cherry tomatoes, French green beans) mostly on weekends. Available later on this summer will be watermelons, cantaloupes and various peppers.
MARY’S LITTLE SHOP: Mary Nicholson lives in Castleton, but sells homegrown produce at her stand on U.S. 522 in Woodville, about 1/4 mile west of Burke’s Grocery. Her stand is open from 8 a.m.' to 7 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
Vegetables Available: Zucchini and yellow squashes, cantaloupes, watermelons, tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, and Silver Queen com.
MUSKRAT HAVEN FARM: This stand is run by Manfred Call and family, and is open every day except Monday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The stand is on the north side of U'S. 211, about two miles east of Ben Venue.
Vegetables Available: Silver Queen com, green peppers, green beans, cucumbers, squashes (yellow, zucchini, pattypan and acorn), and honeydew melons.
SPERRYVILLE FARMS: This stand, run by Ivan and Hazel Hall, has been in its location on U.S. 211 near Old Hollow in Sperryville for 14 years. Mr. Hall grows some of his own vegetables, and buys local produce from other county growers whenever possible. Hours open are 9
