Edward Foster
Edward James Foster, 78, of Front Royal died Monday, July 25 at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, July 28 at the TumerRobertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal by the Rev. Clyde R. Woodard. Burial with full military honors was in Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester.
Mr. Foster was bom March 10, 1916, in Washington, Va., son of the late Silas Foster Sr. and Dora Smoot Foster.
He was a retired carpenter and a U.S. Army veteran retiring after 22 years and having served in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Surviving are his wife, Therese Foster; three sons, Robert Foster of Massachusetts, George Foster and Timothy Foster, both of Front Royal and two daughters, Ruth Ann Burke and Elizabeth Gordon, both of Front Royal.
Also surviving are three brothers, Lee Foster of Sperryville, Silas Foster Jr. of Front Royal and Downing Foster of Maryland; three sisters, Victoria Jenkins of Front Royal, Colleen Foster of Chester Gap and Hanna Settle of West Virginia; 12 grandchildren and a greatgrandchild.
Pallbearers were Robert Foster, George Foster, Timothy Foster, Lynwood Pullen, Phillip Matthews, Tom Kohn and George Foster Jr.
Edith North
Edith Alexander North, 93, of Front Royal, died Friday, July 29 at Winchester Medical Center.
A joint graveside service was conducted for Mrs. North and her brother, Frankie 0. Alexander Sunday in Prospect Hill Cemetery by Dr. Mark Jordon and the Rev. Gail Durvin.
Mrs. North was bom July 14, 1901, in Rappahannock County, daughter of the late Edward Walter and Sallie Ann Butler Alexander.
