However, he believes the school could be competitive in football. “We have potential football players here,” he said. “If you took a group of eighth and ninth graders and started them as a JV team, by the time they were juniors and seniors they would be in the top four in the district,” he said.
The lack of a football team is one of the reasons, Mr. Leake left. “I want to coach football,” he said. “That’s a missing link in my life. I was prepared in college to coach football. Wherever I go, I’ll line the football field just to become involved with a football team. I want it as an option for my son. I felt deprived going to a school without a football team.”
