The Virginia Commission for the Arts announces October 3, 1994, deadline for receipt of applications for Individual Artist Fellowships in the visual arts.
A limited number of fellowships of up to $5,000 are available to professional artists of exceptional talent to support activities that will advance the art form or the careers of these artists.
The purpose of the Invididual Artist Fellowship program is to encourage significant development in the work of individual artists and in the medium in which they work, to support the realization of specific artistic ideas, and to recognize the central contribution professional artists make to the creative environment of our state. These fellowships are available to visual artists in alternate years. In 1994-95, visual arts will be supported, including painting, crafts, photography, prints and drawing, sculpture, and mixed media.
In order to be eligible to apply, artists must be legal residents of Virginia at the application deadline and must plan to remain living in the state during the grant period. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Fellowships may not be used for costs related to vanity publication, academic research or formal study toward an academic or professional degree.
Artists may apply for $5,000.
