Classmates Sought

Services Board To Meet

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board will hold its regular monthly meeting at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9 at the Holiday Inn in Culpeper.

Christmas Bazaar Set

The ladies of the Culpeper United Methodist Church will be sponsoring a Christmas Craft Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12. The bazaar will be held in the United Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall located on Oaklawn Drive.

Craft tables are available to rent for $20 each. All tables are being reserved on a first come first serve basis. To reserve a table, please contact Mary Lou Phillips at 825-0108. Be prepared to provide name, address, telephone, number of tables needed, type of craft (s) and special set-up needs.

Grove Schooling Series

Free Vision Screening Set

Dr. Russell Brear and Dr. Darin Bowers will offer free preschool vision screens for children at Commonwealth Eye Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27. “We will look for lazy eyes and other eye conditions that affect young children’s health and school performance,” explained Dr. Brear. “It is important to be sure that your children’s vision will not hold them back in school.”

Windmore Plans All Day Event

The Windmore Foundation for the Arts located at the Windmore Cultural Center in Griffinsburg is hosting their second annual “Field of Dreams” on Saturday, Sept. 24. This all day event includes a 5K Run, juried Art Show, entertainment, live bands, food and activities for the children. If you are interested in renting a space for the juried art show or registering for the 5K Run call 547-2555.

Flint Hill Carnival

The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department will hold their annual carnival Aug. 10-13. The parade will begin at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11. The crowning of the queen and prizes will be awarded on Saturday night with the grand prize being a Chevrolet Geo Metro.

Gardener's Assistance

The Extension Master Gardeners will have regular office hours to assist homeowners with home horticulture and gardening problems this spring and summer. They are from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Monday through Friday. If you can’t stop by the Extension Office during those hours, call and leave a message at 675-3619.

Health Screening Programs Set

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board invites persons 60 years of age and older to participate in the following Health Promotion/Screening Programs to be held at the Rappahannock Senior Nutrition Site: Program on Hospice/Services provided to the community by Jean Morgan, Director at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15 and Blood Pressure Check and Blood Sugar Check by Marion Sharp, RN at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24.
