toy kitchen, a doll, and lots of stickers. Then it was back to radiation treatments. ■f Shannon also began receiving physical and speech therapy. In midOctober the radiation was over. Shannon was in remission, but nobody knows how permanent it is.
Mrs. Kelly said there is a 15 percent chance the tumor won’t grow back. If it does, there is nothing more that can be done.
Shannon goes to the Child Care and Learning Center three days a week. The other two days she goes to Culpeper for physical therapy (large muscle coordination), occupational therapy (small muscle coordination), and speech therapy, “three therapies back to back,” her mother says.
Shannon has lots of friends rooting for her. Mrs. Kelly said her friends and cousins adapt what they are doing so Shannon can participate. Slowly Shannon is getting better, and the dream of a Disney trip has returned.
