In Warrenton, the season begins on Friday evening, Dec. 2 with the town’s festival of lights and the arrival of Santa Claus by horse-drawn carriage. The Main Street merchants have, as in years past, arranged fanciful window displays accented with holiday lights and other ornaments. There will be strolling carolers, sidewalk refreshments and plenty of holiday cheer.
On Saturday, Dec. 3 the town will have its annual Christmas parade along Main Street, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Parade fanatics can see a double-header, since Marshall’s parade follows beginning at noon.
This year, Virginia Power will offer an innovative service for Warrenton shoppers. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., an electrit bus will make a loop from Oak Springs Plaza, to WarTenton Center, to Waterloo Station, to the Courthouse Square. The shuttle will make it easy for shoppers to visit the variety of shops around town without worrying about parking.
Up north, the Marshall Ruritans will celebrate the season on Sunday, Dec. 4 with their annual senior citizens’ holiday dinner. From 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., seniors are invited to a turkey dinner with all the trimmings at the Ruritans’ meeting hall, an invitation
