Aah, but what about Goldie the fish or Tweety the bird? They don’t have to be left out this holiday season.
It might be time for the fish to move into a bigger aquarium, or at least to get some new accouterments. A large ceramic castle gives them a place to swim around.
And for birds, there are always items like a mirror, seed sticks or a new perch.

If you have thousands to spend, there’s always what the Robb Report classifies as a “status pet” — basically, a funy friend that’s exotic and expensive.
Timbershepherds are a crossbreed of German shepherds and North American gray timber wolves, which have become a popular guard Bog among those who have really valuable stuff to protect. They also make very intelligent, loyal family pets.
Neapolitan mastiffs are another protec-1 tive pooch, one that usually bonds with one family member yet remains highly protective of all the family members (especially children).
Those who like the idea of owning a tiger should investigate the Bengal cat, a wild-looking, spotted breed.
Other gorgeously exotic felines include Abyssinians, Ocicats, the Bombay and the Korat.
Are these still too ordinary? Don’t overlook the allure of potbellied pigs (clean, charming, easy to housebreak) or llamas, which, with their hypnotic, humanlike gaze, are a relative bargain — about $500 for a pet-quality animal. Some golfers even train them as caddies!
