At last week’s library board meeting, Chairman William Young announced that he would not be seeking reapppointment at the end of his term, December 31.
Dr. Young has been on the board for over 10 years. He said, “I will be around as a volunteer and user of the library, and I think the library is in very good shape.”
The Board of Supervisors appoints members of the Library Board. The board members select their chairman from among the members.
Dr. Young also said Louise van Dort suggested to him that some books from the library be stored at the Town Hall to help with acoustics in that building. There are about 150 linear feet of shelving in the Town Hall. Dr. Young indicated that Mayor Willis also felt that was a good idea.
The board will decide at a later date what type of books will be stored there. The downstairs of the library has many books in storage, including books there for future book sales. It is possible that next summer’s book sale will be held at the Town Hall.
