Since her European debut, Judith Nelson has been acknowledged one of the world’s leading singers of the baroque repertoire. She has performed throughout Europe and the United States in concerts and operas and for radio and television. She has over seventy recordings to her credit.
English soprano Amanda Balestrieri is a founding member of Drew Minter’s vocal quintet, Ensemble Five/One, which is schedule to come to the Theatrer at Washington next April. She studied baroque performance technique with Max Van Egmond and has sung with many early music ensembles including the Folger Consort.
Tickets for the recital on Dec. 3 are $13.50 with reservation, $15 at the door. Reservations are recommended since the Smithsonian concert series is already well subscribed and this performace coincides with the historic town of Washington’s annual “Colonial Christmas” celebration.
