Two annual Virginia Beef Cattle Improvement Association sponsored performance tested bull and commercial bred replacement heifer sales are schedule in early December.
The 20th Annual All Breed Performance Tested Bull and Commercial Heifer Sale will be held at the Augusta Expoland near Staunton at 12 noon on Saturday, Dec. 3. There will be 71 performance tested, service age bulls including 46 Angus, six Polled Hereford, six Charolais, six Simmental, six Gelbvieh and one Braunvieh. There will be 108 spring calving commercial replacement heifers which will sell immediately following the bull sale.
The 10th Annual Southside All Breed Performance Tested Bull and Commercial Heifer Sale will be held at the Southside Livestock Market at Blackstone at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9. There will be 42 bulls selling, which include 25 Angus, two Polled Hereford, four Charolais, nine Simmental, one Gilbvieh and one Chiangus. There will be 78 commercial replacement heifers in the sale including 45 spring calving bred heifers, eight recently exposed heifers for fall calving and 25 open heifers.
The bulls in both sales are consigned by members of the Virginia Beef Cattle improvement Association and will have complete performance records based on on-farm performance tests. EPD data for birth weight, weaning weight, yearling weight and maternal milk will also be available in the catalog. In addition, current weight, frame score and scrotal circumference will be made available at the sale. All
