Highland Fling,” music and dance of Scotland, comes to The Theatre at Washington, at 8 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 18. The program features Highland dancing, country dancing, bagpipe medleys, and Scottish folk songs.
The Highland dances, as distinct from Scottish country dancing, are solo dances. They were originally performed by males and reflected the warlike character of the Highlanders. Separate dances have been developed for females and are known generally under the rubric “ladies” dances. Sarah Bogolin and Eileen Grant are the Highland dancers performing at the Theatre.
