William A. Buntin was the
victor in a three-way race
for sheriff of Rappahannock in Tuesday’s election. He upset incumbent John Walker Jenkins by an almost two to one margin and completely overshadowed the third candidate, Everett Estes. Voting was heavy with a total of 1904 ballots cast in the sheriffs race.
Virginia D. Smith, incumbent for the office of Commissioner of Revenue, was successful in retaining her position against challenger Marilyn Merrill Bailey.
The Wakefield District Board of Supervisors’ seat was taken by Edwin M. Eastham, HI of Huntly, with only a 24-count difference. Hubert Gilkey,
