My personal favorite of all June’s work hangs at the Rappahannock Public Library. It is a full length, life size self portrait entitled “Hen and Me.” this painting is so striking it takes your breath away. There’s June! And she has truly captured herself, looking at you with startled eyes and a wry smile on her lips. Holding a chicken, wearing a stunning turquoise necklace, barefoot, next to a glowing firebox —— all these elements turn viewing this painting into an adventure.
