Monday. The accident took place just after midnight, causing $2,500 damage to his 1995 Ford Escort. Mr. Atkins was not injured.
Last Wednesday at around 10:50 a.m., Timothy Brown, 33, of Washington, was driving a 1986 Dodge pickup on U.S. 522, .2 mile north of Route 621 in Woodville, when he ran off the left side of the road. The truck went down an embankment and struck a fende. According to Sgt. Newlin, the truck sustained $3,000 damage and the fence, which belongs to Eldon Farms, had $30 damage. Mr. Brown was treated for minor injuries and was charged by Trooper Wayne Sumner with reckless driving.
Wendy Gwendine Singleton, 29, of Amissville, ran off the right side of Route 637 in Amissville, 2.3 miles north of Route 645 last Saturday night about 9:45. Her Toyota struck an embankment and fence and overturned to rest up against a tree, according to Sgt. Newlin. Her car received $5,000 damage, and the fence, owned by Harvey Poe of Amissville, had $500 damage. Ms. Singleton was treated for injuries and transported to the hospital. She was charged with driving under the influence by Trooper Mike Woodard.
Deputies and state troopers warn motorists to be on the lookout for deer alongside the road, especially at dusk, dawn and during the night.
