Five people were caught redhanded last Friday evening.

Responding to a call from Bill Fletcher, Deputy Connie Compton and Capt. Jeff Brown of the Sheriffs Office and State Trooper Mike Woodard went to Montpelier on U.S. 231 in Sperryville and found three adults and two juveniles inside the house.

Arrested were Gary A. Kelley, 31, of Amissville; Carol Kelley McLain, 34, of Hood, Virginia; and David W. Gay, 35, of Madison. All three were charged with breaking and entering, petit larceny and vandalism.

Two male juveniles, both 16 years old and from Amissville, will be charged with breaking and entering arid vandalism, according to Sheriff John Henry Woodward.

A Halloween night disturbance occurred in front of the Chester Gap firehouse and a firearm was discharged. Sheriff Woodward said that no warrants have been issued yet, but charges are pending.

Several accidents were caused by deer this past week.

On Oct. 30, Bobby Jenkins, 53, of Sperryville, hit a deer with his 1983 Ford. According to Sgt. Harry Newlin of the State Police, the accident took place on U.S. 21 1 .2 mile east of Route 626, at about 6:30 p.m. Mr. Jenkins was not injured, but his car received $3,000 damage.

On Oct. 31 about 4 p.m., a 1986 Volvo driven by Gregory Huddleston, 48, of Casanova, struck a deer on U.S. 211 between Hillsdale and Ben Venue. His car sustained $4,000 damage. He and his wife were wearing seat belts and were not injured.

Last Wednesday, William Spitler,
